Product description

Sundvall charger for Phylion/Joycube batteries with 5-pin round plug

This charger is suitable for various Sundvall e-bikes with a Joycube JCEB360 battery with a 5-pin black plastic plug. The charger is used for various models (see below) and supports batteries with:

  • 36V batteries
  • standard BMS
  • smart BMS

The charger delivers a stable charging voltage of 42V at 2A charging current. This makes this version excellent for Talent battery systems with a 5-pin round connection (metal connector).

Original quality from Sans

We supply the original Sans version. Sans produces the chargers also supplied by Phylion/Joycube. This means you choose the same technology, reliability, and compatibility as the original charger.

Depending on the version, the model number may end in XH, X, M, or M-01. The version marked XH supports both standard BMS and smart BMS systems.

Technically, this charger is identical to the well-known SSLC084V42XH from Phylion/Joycube with a 5-pin plug.

Why does a 42V charger go with a 36V battery?

Although the battery usually states 36V or 37V, a lithium-ion e-bike battery charges fully to approximately 42V. This is because 10 battery cells in series are each charged to a maximum of 4.2V: 10×4.2V=42V.

That is why Popal batteries in this category always use a 42V charger.

What does 2A charging current mean?

The 2A (2 amp) designation indicates the charging current. This determines how fast the battery charges: 2A per hour.

In practice, charging an 11Ah battery takes an average of about 5 to 6 hours.

Furthermore, most Popal batteries are not designed for fast charging with higher charging currents. A heavier charger can therefore cause extra wear and shorten the battery’s lifespan.

Charging e-bike batteries and extending lifespan

Correct charging and storage have a major impact on the lifespan of an e-bike battery. By managing your battery wisely, you prevent unnecessary wear and maintain the range for longer.

Charger not working? How to identify the problem

Is the battery no longer charging or does the charger seem defective? It’s not always immediately clear where the problem lies.

Possible causes include:

  • defective plug or connection
  • fault in the battery
  • defective charger
  • problem with the BMS (Battery Management System)

Unsure where the problem is? Use our self-diagnosis step-by-step plan and easily discover whether the battery or charger needs replacing.

Original Sans version, identical to the 42V 2A Phylion/Joycube charger supplied by Sundvall.

This charger is suitable for Talent 36 volt batteries with a round, 5-pin metal charging plug.

We supply the original Sans version. Sans is the manufacturer of the chargers also supplied by Phylion/Joycube and Talent. Technically, this charger is identical to the original version.

A 36V/37V lithium-ion e-bike battery is fully charged to approximately 42V. That is why Phylion and Joycube batteries in this category always use a 42V charger.

This charger replaces models including SSLC084V42XH, SSLC084V42X, SSLC084V42M, and SSLC084V42M-01 from Phylion/Joycube.

Yes. This charger is suitable for both standard BMS and smart BMS systems from Phylion and Joycube.

This charger is suitable for Talent (Joycube) 36 volt batteries with a 5-pin round metal plug.

Proper battery management is essential for a long lifespan and years of cycling pleasure.

Principles for good battery management:

  1. The battery stays in the best condition through regular use (charging and discharging). Insufficient use can lead to problems (imbalance between or even defective battery cells) resulting in capacity loss.
  2. The battery wears out through use (= charging/discharging) and through age (= the chemical process in the battery cells).
  3. The battery performs best at a temperature of approximately 25 degrees Celsius. This is where maximum battery capacity is reached.
  4. The battery is best kept in good condition at low temperatures (above freezing point) because this is when the chemical aging process takes place most slowly.
  5. If the battery is empty, it must be charged immediately to avoid deep discharge. Deep discharge occurs when the battery voltage drops below the level at which the battery management system still recognizes the connected charger. This makes charging impossible.
