Product description

Charger for Rap e-bike batteries (Phylion XH370 & EBG370) – with RCA plug

This original charger is suitable for RAP e-bikes with a Phylion battery, model XH370 Wall-E-S series, equipped with a 2-pole RCA plug.

The charger works seamlessly with both:

  • 36V and 37V batteries
  • Smart BMS (all RAPs are equipped with smart BMS as standard)
  • Smart BMS

This makes this charger widely applicable for all RAP models using the Phylion XH370 or EBG370 battery with RCA plug.

Reliable quality as originally supplied

This charger is manufactured by Sans, the manufacturer that also supplies chargers for Phylion/Joycube. This means you choose the same technology and reliability as the chargers used as standard with these batteries.

Why a 42V charger belongs with a 36V or 37V battery

Although the battery says 36V or 37V, an e-bike battery is charged to approximately 42V when fully charged. This is because the lithium cells in the battery are each charged to 4.2V: 10×4.2=42. Therefore, all Phylion batteries in this category use a 42V charger.

The 2A (2 ampere) designation indicates the charging current, or the speed at which the battery is charged. In practice, this means a 13Ah battery takes about 6 to 7 hours to fully charge.

Most Phylion/Joycube batteries are not suitable for fast charging (higher charging current). Charging with a higher amperage can lead to extra wear and a shorter battery life over time.

Charging e-bike batteries & extending lifespan

How you charge and use an e-bike battery has a major impact on performance and lifespan. By handling charging and storage smartly, you prevent unnecessary wear and get the most out of your battery.

Charger not working? How to identify the problem

Does your e-bike charger seem to have stopped working or is your battery not charging (properly)? In many cases, it’s not immediately clear whether the problem lies with the charger or the battery. Various factors can play a role, such as a faulty connection, a battery issue, or a fault in the charger itself. Not sure where the problem lies? Follow our self-diagnosis guide and easily discover if your charger or battery needs replacing.

This charger with RCA plug (model number SSLC084V42M) is produced by Wuxi Sans Electronics, the manufacturer that also produces this charger for Phylion/Joycube, and delivers an output voltage of 42V, 2A. This charger is suitable for Phylion 36 & 37 volt batteries with an RCA connection with both standard and smart BMS systems. The charger is compatible with, among others, the Phylion models:

  • SSLC084V42XH
  • SSLC084V42X
  • SSLC084V42X-01

First check if the power outlet works and if the light on the charger is on, indicating it’s properly connected to the mains. If the light won’t turn red, check if the RCA plug (2-pin) is making good contact with the battery (sometimes moving the plug up and down a bit helps). Still not charging? Then the problem could be in the charger or the battery. Use our step-by-step plan to easily test this yourself.

If the charger shows no light, there’s a high chance the charger is defective. If the light is on but the battery isn’t charging, the problem is often with the battery or the connection. By testing another charger (if possible), you can quickly rule this out.

Yes, provided you choose a charger with the correct specifications that is also suitable for charging batteries with Phylion’s (smart) BMS.

42V is the correct charging voltage for 36V and 37V e-bike batteries (such as Phylion XH370 and EBG370). 2A (ampere) indicates the charging speed. This is the standard and recommended charging current for these batteries.

In most cases, this is discouraged. Phylion/Joycube batteries are designed for charging at 2A. Using a fast charger (higher amperage) can lead to extra wear and a shorter battery life.

Yes, it’s normal for a 42V / 2A charger to get (quite) warm during charging. Just make sure the charger is in a well-ventilated place and is not covered.

A green light usually means the battery is fully charged or that no charging process is active. Does the light stay green immediately upon connection? This could indicate a problem with the battery or the connection.

No, make sure you use a charger suitable for Phylion XH370 / EBG370 batteries with the correct voltage (42V) and current (2A). Not every RCA plug charger has the correct specifications.

This charger is suitable for Phylion XH370 & EBG370 37V batteries with standard or smart BMS system with RCA connection and is therefore suitable for the following RAP e-bike models, among others:

  • RAP City I & II
  • Tour 8 IPS
  • Suburb 24 speed

Proper battery management is essential for a long lifespan and years of cycling pleasure.

Principles for good battery management:

  1. The battery stays in the best condition through regular use (charging and discharging). Insufficient use can lead to problems (imbalance between or even defective battery cells) resulting in capacity loss.
  2. The battery wears out through use (= charging/discharging) and through age (= the chemical process in the battery cells).
  3. The battery performs best at a temperature of approximately 25 degrees Celsius. This is where maximum battery capacity is reached.
  4. The battery is best kept in good condition at low temperatures (above freezing point) because this is when the chemical aging process takes place most slowly.
  5. If the battery is empty, it must be charged immediately to avoid deep discharge. Deep discharge occurs when the battery voltage drops below the level at which the battery management system still recognizes the connected charger. This makes charging impossible.
